Welcome to our NEW website
March 12, 2021

We decided it was time to update our website with a look as fresh as our lettuce and more information about why our lettuce is different from every other brand out there – no matter who grows it or where.

We’re so excited to share with you how we grow certified organic lettuce year-round in the great (but occasionally frigid) state of Maine. Before we give you a quick review of what’s new, we’d like to explain why this new site is necessary.
New Website

When we first started Springworks back in 2014, many people here in New England didn’t know that commercial greenhouses even existed. Back then, there was only a handful of them around.

In the seven years since, lettuce greenhouses have been popping up everywhere, including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. It’s an exciting time for shoppers who want a tasty, sustainable alternative to field-grown lettuce trucked across the country.

To put this recent explosion of greenhouse growth in perspective, 90% of all the lettuce sold in New England still comes from California, Arizona, and Mexico. That’s a whole lot of lettuce grown the old-fashioned way.

Here at Springworks, we decided it was time to update our website with a look as fresh as our lettuce and more information about why our lettuce is different from every other brand out there – no matter who grows it or where. That’s why we created this new website that we’re so excited to share with you!

In addition to some interesting information about how we started, we’ve added a brand new What Is Aquaponics section that breaks down how we grow our lettuce and why it’s one of the few greenhouse-grown brands of lettuce at your favorite supermarket that’s certified organic.

We’ve also added a Where To Buy search tool so you can find our greens wherever you go throughout the northeast!

The highlight of our new site is the animated video we created that explains the complicated process of how we grow lettuce AND fish at the same time in the same ecosystem. Aquaponics is, quite simply, the most sustainable way to grow lettuce, and Springworks is the only company in the northeast that does it.

Be sure to like us on Facebook, where we’ll be sharing more details about our greenhouses, the people who work in them, and our exciting plans for the future.
